Our Leadership

  • Eric Eoloff, President

Before becoming a year-round resident of Madeline Island in 2024, Eric was a health care administrator in Missouri and Minnesota for over 30 years. He is now a health care consultant and thrilled to be living on the island he has been visiting for years and supporting the staff who provide high quality health care to the island.

  • Jay Erstling, Vice President

Jay is a mostly retired intellectual property lawyer whose career has spanned United Nations work, practice and teaching. He has worked in countries with outstanding health care systems and others where health care is barely adequate. Those experiences have given him not only a real appreciation for good health care, but also great pride in the care that the La Pointe Community Clinic provides to Madeline Island.

  • Sarah Schram, Secretary

Sarah has been part of the Madeline Island community for over 22 years. She currently serves as Director of the Madeline Island Ambulance Service and has worked as an EMT on the island for nearly 15 years. Sarah values the strong sense of connection within the community and appreciates the chance to support the health and safety of her neighbors. Most of her time is happily spent with her husband and children, caring for her family and enjoying life on the island.

  • Kenneth Goldfine, Treasurer

Ken has been a summer visitor on Madeline Island for most of his life and a seasonal resident since 2020. This year, Ken and his husband Andrew became full time residents, and Ken joined the board of the La Pointe Community Clinic. Prior to moving to the island, Ken was the CEO of ZMC Hotels, a regional hotel management, investment and development company based in Duluth, where he was born and raised.

  • Ellen Troelzsch, Assistant Treasurer

Ellen became a full time Madeline Island resident in 2022. Her hospitality business background and bookkeeping experience has brought her to volunteer at non-profits wherever she has lived.

  • Murcile "Cile" Naumann

With a background in Occupational Therapy, Cile worked in the Minneapolis area prior to coming to Madeline Island in 1979. She fell in love with the island community and made Madeline her new home, working at the Inn on Madeline Island and the MI Yacht Club until retiring in 2018. Cile was a volunteer EMT for the Madeline Island Ambulance Service and served on the EMS squad for 24 years. Her love of the island history keeps her involved with the Madeline Island Historical Preservation Association.

  • Dr. Laura Pittman

Laura and her family first began visiting Madeline Island in 1986 with close friends, the Weirs, and immediately developed a deep connection to the area. After many years of returning each season, the family purchased a home on the island five years ago. Laura is an emergency medicine physician at a trauma center in Austin, Texas. Her work in the ER makes the tranquility and community of Madeline Island especially meaningful.

  • Dr. Sarah Kaplan

Sarah is a retired OB/Gyn physician who practiced in the Twin Cities for 30 years with a special interest in menopause medicine. A lifelong summer resident, she and her husband now live several months of the year on Madeline Island. She is grateful to be able to give back to this commuity through her board work for this exceptional, small clinic.
